    Like the food pics! Especially the tacos with meat, pork, shrimp…i.e. protein in them! Lol. As you know I am a carnivore who likes his meat! Here at south paste tonight I’m having a shrimp cocktail loaded with wild caught gulf shrimp!

    So, in the Rincon RV Park, the Trailer Park Boys have gray hair and play shuffleboard. Instead of wondering when and where they’ll get their marijuana, mushrooms and booze, they worry about prostates, taxes and the squeaky door on the fifth-wheel. A lot less exciting than shoot-outs in the park but the lack of low-life squalor has its appeal, for sure.

    Poor little Chichita. May she roam the streets of heaven doing whatever she likes, with no fear of earthy-style consequences.She lived a full life, sadly cut short. Some might say it is better to live hard and fast and die young rather than to sit on a $2,000 sofa, idling away her days sleeping, taking medications and succumbing at an advanced age to a painful, undignified disease. I regret that I never met her, at least on this earth. Goodbye, little girl.

    Scott, I was in Granada this past weekend, and I happened to be at the cathedral for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception (Granada celebrates it from 28-Nov to 08-Dec). It was awesome to witness the processions and all the hoopla (pyrotechnics, marching bands, etc.), but when I walked into the cathedral, it reminded me of a 1960’s film titled “The Agony and the Ecstasy”. If you don’t mind old movies, I’d suggest checking it out… it’s about the painting of the Sistine Chapel. Anyway, I felt privileged to be able to see Granada’s cathedral as a “work in progress”. It is simply magnificent, and I hope this might inspire other churches to commission artists to beautify their blank walls and ceilings. Maybe mankind is due for another Renaissance. I’m so glad you posted some pics, and I wish I had been there to see the painter at work. I would have had so many questions for him. I hope he is painting on wet plaster, otherwise it’ll peel like daVinci’s Last Supper in no time. 🙂 Anyway, your words are extraordinary, so I will pay you a compliment by closing with them, “But then, this project will outlast many men and make its point that we are here for a purpose, but not our purpose.”

      Hi Lucie – thank you for your kind words. The Cathedral is simple yet beautiful and the painting on the ceiling takes us back to an earlier time when people had time to think about big ideas. I do these ” postcards ” to keep my trips on track and to have something to look back at when I am home in New Mexico. It is also a bonus when others find pictures and ideas and words that resonate with them. I believe you are a traveler and hope you are putting your thoughts down too. My next trips will be to Mexico to escape Old Man Winter in January and part of February. Thanks again for finding something you like and taking the time to say Hi! Much appreciated. scott

    Wow, I asked for food info and Scotttreks delivered! Lol. That pulled pork sandwich looked great! Reminded me of one time I was in Obregon, Mexico….which is south of San Carlos…..and I saw a lot of Mexicans lining up at a little restaurant near the square….and I saw they were ordering these pulled pork sandwiches! I did the same and still remember how good it was! And better yet I think I paid only two dollars for this great sandwich! What did your meal cost? Is Nicaragua cheap by our standards? Thanks for the cullinary post! Lol

      Mombacho is a volcano and we were hiking in the rain forest that surrounds its summit. It is a really active part of the Earth down here.still, it was not something i had ever got to experience before. it was like putting your face close top the steam coming from a jet in a steam room but very gentle.

      thanks david – it was a surprise to see a modern painting going on the ceiling and a Genie lift instead of scaffolding. I am not a Catholic but these huge cathedrals do have their beauty. Thanks for dropping by and finding a postcard you like well enough to make a comment.

      lots of thick vegetation and rivers in the countryside…. 27 volcanoes in the country and many are active. also have lots of islands, lakes, rivers, and ocean ( Pacific and Caribbean Sea. just starting to take tours.

    T or C looks great! Kind of wish you’d pull your house off the market and keep it and live in it as your home base! I mean…it’s warm down there, you’ve got Elephant Butte and the Rio Grande nearby…there’s a fledgling artistic community, and the hot springs….what more could one want? I would come and visit you…and maybe park my rig in your backyard for the winter….although that might be a negative, but why not move down to T or C when we sell 803? Just a thought!
